- Merging with a bizarre spiritual force called Genesis, Texan Preacher Jesse Custer becomes completely disillusioned with the beliefs that he had dedicated his entire life to. Now possessing the power of "the word," an ability to make people do whatever he utters, Custer begins a violent and riotous journey across the country. Joined by his gun-toting girlfriend, Tulip, and the hard-drinking Irish vampire, Cassidy, the Preacher loses faith in both man and God as he witnesses dark atrocities and improbable calamities during his exploration of America.
"Preacher was one of the first titles I ever read, it was the comic that got me hooked on comics, though I was definitely too young when I read it. I found myself laughing at things I probably shouldn't have been, and then a page or two later my heart was being ripped out! You never know if you should love or hate the characters, you just know that you're along for the wild ride with them. The show stopper of this series is the artwork of Steve Dillon, he perfectly captures the vision that Ennis is going for on every panel. If you hated the TV series or even if you loved it, you should read these comics. They're dark, horrifically funny in places, and then moving in others. There's a reason it's on many readers' best comics ever lists." - Dani @OK
